What is Activ? The Egyptian sportswear and footwear store

Activ is a Cairo-based sportswear and footwear retailer that sells online at activ.eg, a mainly Arabic-language store with prices in Egyptian pounds. It carries its own Activ label alongside international brands including adidas, Nike, CAT, Airwalk and Merrell, so you can compare a local-brand trainer with a global name in the same basket.

The store is organised into Women, Men and Kids, plus Bags & Accessories, Sports Equipment and a School Supplies section that is promoted for the back-to-school season. Activ's own range covers men's and women's fashion shoes and sneakers, slip-on "Estiga" style shoes, flip-flops and slippers, kids' character shoes (such as Spider-Man designs) and velcro trainers, sports jackets, wide-leg training pants and backpacks.

Activ is a strong choice for families who want reliable everyday shoes and sportswear at local prices, and for anyone who wants to catch a discount on a big brand. The current markdowns are deep: discount badges range from 6% to 50%, and many men's shoes are close to half price.

What to buy at Activ: category guide

Men's shoes and sneakers

Men's footwear has the deepest discounts. The Activ fashion shoe in navy is down from 2,499 to 1,250 EGP and the grey/blue version from 2,199 to 1,100 EGP, both around 50% off. For a lighter everyday shoe, the Estiga slip-on is 749 EGP instead of 1,099 EGP. Flip-flops at 99 EGP are an easy add-on for the gym or the beach.

Women's shoes and training wear

The women's section mixes fashion shoes, such as the black Activ fashion shoe at 1,699 EGP, with practical training pieces like the navy wide-leg pants at 599 EGP. Pair them with an Activ zip jacket for walks around the compound or a session at the club.

Kids and back to school

The back-to-school push makes kids' shoes and bags a highlight. Spider-Man fashion shoes are 599 EGP instead of 799 EGP, velcro trainers make mornings easier for younger children, and the Activ backpack (1,599 EGP) is built for daily school use.

International brands and equipment

Through the Brands menu you can shop adidas, Nike, CAT, Airwalk and Merrell, plus a Sports Equipment section. Compare prices across brands before buying, as discount badges vary by product.

Money-saving tips for Activ shoppers

• Filter for the biggest badges. Several men's shoes are 50% off; start there before buying full-price items.
• Bundle the family order. Combine kids' school shoes, a backpack and your own trainers in one order to make the most of the free-shipping promotion.
• Wait for White Friday. Late November usually brings the biggest sportswear deals in Egypt; add items to your wishlist (قائمة الرغبات) now and check prices then.
• Shop end-of-season. Summer slippers and sandals are usually cheapest in autumn, and winter jackets drop after January.
• Check the size before ordering. Since the parcel cannot be opened at the door, getting the size right saves you an exchange trip.

Shoe sizing and care tips

Measure your foot in the evening, when it is at its largest, and compare with the size chart on the product page. Sports shoes should leave about a thumb's width of space in front of the longest toe. Children's feet grow quickly, so for school shoes many parents choose half a size up, but avoid going bigger than that or the shoe will slip.

To make sports shoes last, let them air-dry away from direct sun, remove insoles after heavy use, clean the uppers with a soft brush and mild soap, and avoid the washing machine for leather or glued soles. Rotate two pairs if you train daily so each pair has time to dry.
