Amazon Prime Student in the UAE: Is the Offer Available in 2026?
The official Amazon Prime page on amazon.ae shows no student plan: the plans available at the time of checking are the monthly at AED 16 and the annual at AED 140 only, plus a promotion of AED 8 a month for the first three months. So the cheapest route for a student in the UAE is the promotion or the annual plan, or — more importantly — the membership included with e& and du home plans that many students already subscribe to. (Verified 24 September 2026.)
Why the confusion about a student plan?
The Prime Student programme, known for six trial months then half price, is tied to specific markets, most famously the United States. Arabic content translated from it leaves readers thinking it is available on every Amazon site. In reality, eligibility for any plan is determined by the site you buy from, your billing address and your payment method — which is why no student plan appears on amazon.ae.
What if it launches later?
Verification would then be by university email or proof of enrolment, and the plan would appear directly inside the Prime page in your account. Until then, anyone promising to activate "Amazon Prime with a university email" in the UAE for a fee is an unofficial intermediary, and dealing with them risks your account being closed.
Student discounts: the actual alternatives
| Alternative | Value to a student | Condition |
|---|---|---|
| The promotion on amazon.ae | AED 8/month for three months instead of 16 | Available to eligible accounts at the time of the offer |
| The annual plan | AED 140 ≈ AED 11.7/month, saving AED 52 | One payment |
| e& eLife Ultra plan | Amazon Prime included | One subscription per eLife account, manual activation after installation, new subscriptions only |
| Eligible du plans | 12 months of Prime | New subscriber on an eligible home plan or a Power plan on a one-year contract |
| The free trial | Full benefits during the period | Shown to eligible accounts on the Prime page |
The third and fourth options matter most in practice for a student in a flat or shared housing: if one of you is taking home internet, the membership comes with the plan. Details are in the UAE Amazon Prime subscription guide.
Is the membership worth it for a student in the UAE?
Three numbers settle it:
- Standard delivery on a non-qualifying order starts at AED 10.
- The free shipping threshold for non-members is AED 100 of items shipped by Amazon.
- The annual plan is AED 140, about AED 11.7 a month.
So if you order books, stationery or accessories worth under AED 100, a single monthly order roughly equals the subscription. Add the included Deliveroo Plus membership advertised at AED 228 a year, and that alone tips the balance for a student who orders food regularly.
Benefits students use more than most
- Amazon Now with free 15-minute delivery for Prime members.
- Prime Gaming with free monthly games and a periodic Twitch channel subscription.
- Free international shipping on eligible Global Store items — useful for devices and study supplies not sold locally.
- 30-minute early access to Lightning Deals during device sale seasons.
Three tips before subscribing
- The membership renews automatically. If you want it for one term only, choose "End membership on renewal" as soon as you subscribe; benefits continue until that date.
- Buying the membership requires a valid credit or debit card; gift cards and cash on delivery are not accepted.
- If you have not used your Prime benefits you are eligible for a full refund — the steps are in cancelling Amazon Prime in the UAE.
The cheapest options actually open to a student — including the membership bundled with home plans — are gathered in Amazon Prime offers in the UAE.
